DETAILS

The Roundtable Reading Series is a dedicated space for table readings, offering artists the opportunity to present their work in a supportive and collaborative environment. Each session features a guest dramaturg who provides constructive feedback, with notes sent to the artists to aid in their development process. To foster community engagement, the first few slots will be reserved for Makers, followed by a lottery system that rewards frequent attendees with increased chances to present their work. Writers/generators and dramaturgs will receive a day rate, and the creator will cast participants based on those present, inviting additional actors as needed. O-Dogg: An Angeleno Take on Othello By Alex Alpharaoh Set against the vibrant and volatile backdrop of Los Angeles, O-Dogg: An Angeleno Take on Othello is a bold reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy. This contemporary adaptation weaves themes of race, loyalty, and betrayal into the dynamic fabric of LA’s neighborhoods, where power struggles and personal conflicts simmer just beneath the surface. Following the journey of O-Dogg, a charismatic leader navigating the challenges of his community, the play explores how ambition and jealousy threaten to unravel the bonds of trust and love that sustain him. With a fusion of poetic language and modern storytelling, this production transforms the timeless tale into an electrifying examination of identity and belonging in the City of Angels.
