DETAILS

With her extensive experience on Broadway + beyond, Brisa's work spans commercial and community-based practice worldwide. Brisa will provide invaluable tools, techniques, and guidance, drawing from her background as a theater practitioner, cultural worker, + healer. This workshop offers a supportive environment for directors to reflect on their practice and consider the profound influence of their actions on their collaborators. Participants will examine the skills necessary for collaborative creation, drawing from a rich tapestry of techniques. Through engaging discussions, real-world case studies, and individual and group exercises, participants will develop skills in story creation + facilitation. By the end, participants will emerge with a deeper understanding of both scripted and devised theater practice, armed with a toolkit of practical strategies and techniques for solo and group creation. At the core of this workshop lies the conviction that authentic leadership is built upon care, understanding, creativity and self-awareness. Together, we will explore how nurturing integrity and rigor in directorial practice not only enriches the artistic journey but also nurtures the holistic well-being of all involved.
